Here are three simple to-do and easy on the wallet tips for adding some new life to your old home.
They say it’s the little things in life. Agree? Read on!
- You know that old table holding up boxes down in the basement? You know, that one from your grandparents’ old place? Yep. It’s too old to just throw away. The wood’s still beautiful with its old-style embellishments and character. Plus all those Thanksgiving dinners you’ve had on it. But it is pretty nicked up. And there’s no saving that leg. And who knows where the leaf ended up… Idea! Turn it into a console. Separate the good side from the bad, sand it, make it look pretty, nail a small piece of supporter wood to the wall near your front door, rest the table against that, apply a screw or two and voila! You’ve just made a fashionable console. Perfect for keys, brown bags of lunches, and other things you don’t want to forget on your way out the door. Table saved!
- Want to spruce up your bathroom without redoing the whole thing? Buy a new shower head! They’re relatively cheap, easy to install, and–truth be told–a new shower head can make you learn to appreciate your bathroom again. Something so simple is often overlooked when you use it every day. Try it. Trust us, you’ll be surprised.
- Okay, we love air conditioners here at Mastercraft. It’s true. But we’ll be the first to admit that the designers of A/C units take aesthetics into consideration about as often as bears speak French. Point is, they’re kinda ugly. And if you have a window unit, you gotta stare at that thing every day. Well, how about building a cabinet around your unit? You can style it to look however you like and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Just make sure to include slats in the cabinet so as to let the cool air out! Heck, you could build an entire armoire around it, with additional shelves and drawers for whatever you like. Just remember, include slats and doors with hinges so you can access the unit. Neat!
